The Ungrateful Snake - Manaiakalani Film Festival 2020
Kia Ora everybody! We are proud to present our film about the ungrateful snake that learns a life lesson. When we worked on our film, we understood how important it is to work as a team, respect and support each other. But the most important lesson is to be grateful for having great friends and kind people around us! Please sit back, relax and enjoy!
The Gruffalo or an Incredible Lesson on Integrity
Mason: Hey! You can't be talking! It’s our turn now! Don't you know what integrity is? I think we need to share our story!
Jasmine: Maybe they need a visit from the Gruffalo to teach them integrity and manners?
Mason: Gruffalo??? What's the Gruffalo?
LV: I'm the Gruffalo! I'll teach you integrity and manners!
Jasmine: Great, thanks Gruffalo! Are you ready to watch our story? Sit back, relax and enjoy!

Our Digital Class Library
Over the past few weeks, we have been reading a lot of interesting books that we wanted to share with our friends. We decided to create our own digital class library so we could share our 'read-aloud' even during home learning.
Please feel free to check out our DIGITAL LIBRARY and listen to our cool books, stories, poems, games and/or recipes!

Drama in Room 5! We are Talented Authors, Illustrators and Actors!
This week we spent creating our scripts and performing various plays. Finally, we ended up with a fantastic idea of inviting the Gruffalo into Room 5!
We are so excited to work on our play. Our incredible scriptwriters produced a number of great scenes. Our next steps are to select the best ideas and create the final version of 'The Gruffalo Did It!" play.
It will be very hard to select the best actors, so we are preparing for a big audition day to give everyone an equal opportunity to try for a role! Auditions are hard - maybe the hardest part of acting - but all actors do it, so, Room 5's actors are in excellent company!

Room 5's Identity Dragon - Learn-Create-Share Project
Room 5's Identify Dragon Projet
We've been learning about myths and legends.... we learnt about unicorns and other mythical creatures and all of a sudden we ended up here... Dragons, Dragons, Dragons!
Are they real? Are they mythical? Why? How? Any evidence? So many questions!!!
Room 5 was extremely enthusiastic to explore this topic. We read a lot of stories, we watched some videos and we put our thinking hats on.... Well, if the dragons are not real, they are still VERY COOL! We created our own Dragon that is now looking after our classroom!
We used different art, creative and collaborative techniques to create our dragon:
- drawing on the topic
- paper mache
- other craft techniques that sometimes were re-invented by Rm 5's learners!
- collage
- creative narrative writing
- report writing
- instructional writing
- measurements and plan proposals
- problem-solving
- and many more!
We had fun learning!
