My Taniwha by Wynta
My Taniwha
My taniwha is as black as the shadows and it's as big as the Kraken. It has strong tentacles that have a massive pull. Its teeth are so sharp that it can bite through diamonds and emeralds. My taniwha legs are so strong that it can kick enemies really hard. Its jaw is also very strong because it eats whales. Sometimes it goes into the sky to catch birds like seagulls and eagles. His name is Doug and he is a couple 1000 years old. Sometimes depending on the weather he will turn brighter than ever. He is a shapeshifter and he can be big and small. I like my taniwha because its really cool but I am glad that it is not real.

Matariki Kites
by Smile
Matariki is the time when you fly kites high up in the sky and celebrate Maori New Year. You can eat kai with your family and make your own kite! You can design a Maori one by using Maori patterns on it. You can even put glitter on your kite to make it beautiful. Then you can fly your kite up in the sky with your friends or cousins. I love Matariki!

My Amazing Holiday by Tavake
My Amazing Holiday by Tavake
In the holidays me and my sisters went to the movies to watch a new movie. We went with my cousin and my brother in law. We went to watch the Spiderman into the spider verse movie but we had no popcorn and no drinks. After the movie finished I left with my sister and cousin and we went to my car. While we were driving for so long I slept. All of a sudden, i woke up because we were getting domino's pizza. Then I went home but I went to sleep because I wanted to save my pizza for dinner. I woke up at six in the morning and ate my pizza. Next I went to turn on the TV so time could pass by faster. Soon my mom woke up and told me to get ready for church.
I had so much fun on those two days!
Matariki KWL
Team Kea students have been thinking about what they know about Matariki, what they want to know, and what they have learned.

Amazing Animals and Plants
This week, Room 9's students wanted to learn about animals, technology, sea animals, creatures, plants, science etc. We decided to explore animals' superpowers and find out if people can learn from nature.
Here is our first brainstorm. We are so excited to learn about incredible animals and plants!

The Magic of Success - Manaiakalani Film Festival 2022
Mauria te pono! Believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself, you have a great chance to achieve your goals and become successful in everything you do! We learnt this while working on creating our movie. Never give up because you might be just a tiny step away from your greatest success!

Hello Room 9! I am a student in Glen Taylor and my name is Aaliyah. I really like the way how you made this video explain how everything can be successful. I love how you wrote down “Never give up because you might be just a tiny step away from your greatest success”. Something you could work on is to probaly use green screen to use a nice background for the beggining of the video.
I hope next time you make your next movie next year it will be even better!
Love this

Kia Ora Room 9
You have taught an important message of not giving up in a fun way. Did your class get the inspiration for this movie from the old Russian fairy tale, The Giant Turnip?
Mr Wong
Kia Ora Room 9, we thought your movie was magical. Our favourite part was at the end of the movie when the boy pushed the kumara over even though nobody else could. We understood the message you were trying to say, to never give up. We think you could make a chapter 2, teaching children another valuable lesson.
